I was interested in this game because like many others my age I remember Archon, the chessboard based strategy/action game of the 80's. This game expands on many aspects (but not always is this a step forward). Basically, you play on a 'board' with different beasts; moving about & engaging in battles with the other players (or computer), trying to take over structures or decimate the other's army. All of the beasts in the game have melee & ranged attacks, and there are varying sizes & strengths of units. The control is reasonable, but not perfect (though not bad in any way, just clumsy at times). The one thing that really cheapened the experience for me was the clothing on the female leaders (see title). If you took a bikini and fed it to a pitbull, then left it in a closet with moths for a month you would get the idea of what these women are dressed in. If it doesn't appeal to people for it's gameplay, then I'm sure this game will attract a following of teenage boys (or men who've never had a girlfriend) with an obsessive compulsive masturbating habit. I'm surprised Lucasarts stooped to the level of showing off excessive T&A (c'mon, we've all got the internet by now, if that's your thing) to sell their product. The design team must not have had much faith in their creative/programming ability. Overall, it's a decent game hampered down by a little too much adolescent fantasy. Kudos for trying to expand on the Archon theme at the very least. Four stars for the game, minus one for assuming gamers are all a bunch of monkey-spanking 14 year olds (which I would keep the game away from!).Read full review
Me and my nephew really enjoy the game. It is set up similar to chess, execpt that when you land on a spot that an opponent occupies, you are tranfered to a battle arena to fight for the spot. The game has four armies. One for fire, one for earth, one for water, and one for wind. Members of the armies have majic powers pertaining to their element, such as frost dragon can freeze opponent. Characters include gods and goddesses, demigods, dragons, trolls, iron golems, dark unicorns, centaurs, genies, ect. It is a great game for one or two players and has many diffent map configurations to battle on. The only downside is that the game is rated teen because the goddesses wearing thong bikinis and stuff. I already owned the game but bought a copy for my nephew so he would quit wanting to borrow mine. He loves it. Overall I say it is a great game.Read full review
This is a really cool game, kinda like mixing chess with capcom's powerstone game If you have ever played unholy war for ps1 you'll know what i'm talking about. You start out choosing one of four gods. Each god has a unique army of golems ogres, unicorns etc.you play on a chess style board until two characters meet. This is when it gets fun. You'll have to defeat the enemy if you want to take the spot. The game is really addicting.Just a little short on the one player mode.
This game is totally awesome. It is much like a combination of a chess game and a real time fighting game such as dragon ballz budokai. There are many different maps to play on and even playing against the computer player can be challenging, especially on the campaign levels. I personally feel that the strategy part of the game is more appealing than the fighting part, but both are equally useful to master in game play. All things considered this game is very worth it!!!
Great product, great condition, couldn't be happier.
